All winter, the sun has hidden behind the rim of the great crater. Now the snow is melting, and the river is waking up.

On the last night of winter, the people of Penumbra float little lanterns down the river to call back the sun. Bubblegum holds his tiny one in both enormous hands.

The lanterns drift away like a river of fireflies.

Then, far up the river, something groans in the dark.
